Tetrahedron
For Percussion Quartet
Originally written for Sō Percussion, this quartet explores continuous rhythmic energy with periodic breaks into more free material. Much of the inspiration came from listening to Sō Percussion’s performances and working with the four amazing musicians who brought this piece to life. The tin cans are an homage to John Cage’s “Third Construction,” one of my all-time favorite pieces.
Durration: Approximately 9 minutes.
Rustic Winds
For Woodwind Quintet
This 8-9 minute, three-movement piece is appropriate for intermediate to advanced students and professionals.
I was inspired to write this quintet by my experience playing clarinet in chamber ensembles back when I was in high school. Taking a step away from some of the more "avant-garde" music I wrote as a PhD student, I composed this woodwind quintet to highlight the energy and lyricism of the chamber music I played as a student.
Acres Trio
For Woodwind Trio
Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon
This is a 15-minute, four-movement trio inspired by my time in the Pacific Northwest, including a theme and variations on the folk song 'Acres of Clams.'
